Q: "Any thoughts on a laminate or similar wood looking hard floor in a basement?"

A: "When doing a wood floor in a basement an engineered wood will perform better than a laminate but neither one will withstand high volumes of moisture very well. Engineered wood is produced in wood ply that is glued and compressed in opposing directions which gives it great strength but allows for flexibility to withstand temperature/humidity fluctuation."
